It is that time of year...

I have been amazed by the rising popularity of Ugly Christmas Sweaters. According to Google Trends Ugly Christmas Sweater searches are up 10X over the past 4 years.

The Moose is loose! Just got through a marathon Ugly Christmas Sweater photo shoot and wanted to share some of the wonderful Christmas sweaters that I found in the vault.  

My favorite out of the lot is this beautiful Reindeer Christmas Sweater.  Notice how Rudolph is chilling on the left shoulder. No proud owner of this sweater ever has to go to a sweater party alone, Rudolph will always be right at your side.. or is it left at your side?


Specifics:
This is a beige cotton sweater with a Reindeer attached to the left shoulder. It is a woman's large and will fit a man suit size 42(I know I wore it).

This one just sold and is headed to Calgary Canada for Christmas!

Hmm 'bout that time to start thinking about 'deem sweaters

Having spent the weekend with the in-laws for Father's Day, I have to share with the world that Ugly Christmas Sweaters are on my mind. While at the local grocery store (Schnucks) in STL a random middle aged lady came up to me and said "Hey, I saw you on The View!". I was stunned, I mean I know I am fairly memorable but this was crazy. Turns out that she was a friend of my mother-in-law and she even attended our wedding (whoops!). But it really got me thinking...What am I going to do to take the Ugly Christmas Sweater Shop to the next level? I have a few ideas that I will be sharing soon.

One last thought - I am sure that you already knew that today is the first day of summer...What you didn't know is that today is the beginning of Ugly Christmas Sweater season.

Lost behind the scenes footage from The View

I was cleaning up some of the files on my computer and I came across this lost footage.  Ok here is the background, after our show we were told that Sherri Shepherd was going to stop by the green room. Earlier during the day they gave me a hard time about using my Flip camera so I propped it up in my bag and "hid" it out of view. Or so I thought, sure enough as I am giving Sherri her sweater the producer Rachel finds the camera and then turns it on ME! Take a look for yourselves:

Sad that it is over... I don't think so

While it might be logical to think that I am sad that Christmas is over, the statement couldn't be further from the truth. I also wouldn't say that I am stoked the season is over. What I would say is that all of the excitement arround Ugly Christmas Sweaters has me energized to say the least. Why else would I be so giddy to doorbust Michael's ;) I am not sure how far the Ugly Christmas Sweater train will take me, but I am looking forward to finding out.

Merry Christmas Everyone!!

As I sat down to write this post my wife put on an episode of Modern Family, and as fate would have it... the episode starts out with the Dunphy Family wearing their Ugly Christmas Sweaters video chatting with the grandparents.  

So it has been an incredible Christmas so far.  Like most folks I did have a bunch of last minute errands to take care of on Christmas Eve and as I am checking out at OSH hardware store, I see a splendid tacky christmas sweater lover on the next aisle over.  So I head over and compliment her on her sweater. I then jump into my spiel about UglyChristmasSweaterShop.com and about my recent appearance on The View.  She was saying that her kids give her a hard time about her "Cheesy Christmas Sweater", but she says she doesn't care.  As she was leaving I asked her if I could take a picture with her. Her response was classic... "You can take my picture as long as it doesn't end up on a perverted website."  I certainly hope Sabra (great name huh?) doesn't think our site is "perverted" ;)


To make it even weirder, another customer overheard us talking and said that her daughter and her friends run www.uglychristmassweaterparty.com 
Talk about a small world.

The hits just keep on coming....

So after my experience yesterday on The View, I am well...let's just say invigorated. I had to go to San Francisco for work for the day and I made lots of friends on the plane. One special lady was Michelle our flight attendant on Southwest. I thought her flare was impeccable, but I will let you decide for yourself. I mean check out her light up necklace and that fantastic santa apron. Turns out that another flight attendant makes them and gives them to her flight attendant friends. Hmm. Maybe we need to expand into aprons.

Another fine sweater afficionado happened to be sitting behind us.  Although as I told her, I think her sweater is way too classy to be considered an "Ugly Christmas Sweater". The fantastic faux fur collar really just sets this sweater apart.

Then the piece de resistance was my friend Charlie that I met at the SFO airport.  His sweater may have been subdued, but he did rock a cane that has to be seen to be believed. It is more of a staff (think Raiders of The Lost Ark). Charlie is 81 years old and is very proud of his cane.  Obviously he has done some modeling in the past as he was a natural in front of the camera.

Ugly Christmas Sweater Shop and The View

Looks like Ugly Christmas Sweaters have hit the bigtime. Last week a researcher from the tv show "The View" contacted me via Facebook, they were doing a segment on Ugly Christmas Sweaters and found this site. At first I thought it might be some kind of scam but after talking with the producer it sounded promising.  I still didn't believe it was real until I got a confirmation for the hotel.  Next thing I know I am beefing up my collection of sweaters and on a plane to NYC. I am blogging from the green room and we are going to do our segment in about an hour. I will publish pics and more details afterwards.
